Surrender Process

Surrendering a dog is an important decision, and we understand that it can be difficult. At The Doberman Rescue Pack, we are committed to helping as many dogs as possible find loving homes, but there are some factors that may affect our ability to take in a dog.

Before we can accept a dog into our rescue, we need to evaluate several key factors. The two most common reasons we may not be able to bring a dog into our program are:

1. Lack of Available Foster Homes – As a foster-based rescue, we rely on volunteer foster homes to care for the dogs. If we do not have an available foster home, we may not be able to accept a new dog at that time.

2. Documented Bites or Aggression – If a dog has a history of aggressive behavior or has caused bodily harm to people or other dogs, we may not be able to safely bring them into our care.

How You Can Help:

To give your dog the best chance of being accepted into our rescue (or any other rescue), we ask that you fill out the surrender form truthfully and with as much detail as possible. The more information you provide, the better we can understand your dog's unique needs, history, and personality. This helps us determine the best course of action and ensures that your dog gets the chance to find a safe, loving forever home.

Honesty and detail in your form will not only give your dog the best chance to be taken in, but it will also increase the likelihood of finding them the right match in their next home.
